Skiing in Madesimo is the quintessential winter activity. The Valchiavenna Ski Area offers 11 ski lifts and 34 ski slopes of all levels, stretching for 40 kilometres from the village houses up to the foot of Pizzo Groppera, at Alpe Motta.
The Madesimo ski area allows skiing in the Alps from late November to late spring, with internationally certified racetracks, ski schools for adults and children, and a wide range of mountain huts and dining points on the slopes. A true paradise for skiers and snowboarders.
The scenic Val di Lei and the famous Canalone off-piste will be accessible again from December 2025, when the new facilities are opened.

Discover the Valchiavenna Ski Area, the Madesimo ski resort
The Valchiavenna Ski Area is the perfect place to ski in the Alps between Switzerland and Milan, less than 140 km away, in a natural setting of rare beauty on the slopes of the mountains that also host important international alpine skiing events and races.
Access to the Ski Area is ski bus-free from Madesimo, thanks to the ski lifts (cable car and chairlifts) that start from the village, or from Campodolcino with the Sky Express, the underground funicular that in just 3 minutes takes skiers up to 638 meters at Motta, where the lifts start.
Within the Madesimo area, it is possible to ski on black, red, and blue slopes, suitable for different skill levels, perfectly snow-covered throughout the winter season with natural and artificial snow and connected to each other thanks to modern automatic coupling lifts. However, you will have to wait until December 2025 to tackle one of the best Alpine off-piste tracks that attracts many enthusiasts every year: the Canalone (the facilities are being modernized).
Night Skiing in Madesimo
Skiing at night in Madesimo is possible! For those who wish to continue their descents after sunset and ski under the stars, the Valchiavenna Ski Area offers dedicated evening skiing sessions throughout the winter season: the illuminated Pianello/Montalto slope, specially prepared, awaits skiers for evening descents in company down to the village, with the possibility of stopping at the Larici refreshment spot. Experience the incredible thrill of night skiing in the Alps.
MadePark, the Madesimo Snowpark
The snow park in Madesimo is MadePark, located at an altitude of 1800 meters, easily accessible from the centre of the village with the Larici cable car or the Montalto chairlift. MadePark has everything for fun and tricks on the snow: kickers of 2, 4, and 6 meters, flat boxes, plugs, down rails, tanks, mailboxes, rainbows, and modular boxes, a series of structures and paths suitable for beginners and more experienced riders, with a variable set-up during the winter season to ski in a snow park that is always new and different.
Access to the Madesimo snow park is free and the use of a helmet is mandatory.
